The Lagoon of Fuente de Piedra ”the Pink Lagoonâ“ teems with birdlife, and is surrounded by vast monotonous terrain. It appears like a glorious oasis in the Llanure de Antequera. The lagoon provides an ideal breeding spot for one of the most elegant and exquisite birds in the world. The lagoon is one of only two places in the entire eastern Mediterranean where up to 14.000 flamingos typically breed. They arrive to breed after wintering in West Africa. Its not surprising that this lagoon is a protected zone in an international treaty.
